earthegy Confessions

I have confessions.
I’ve been in a mild funk for a few months now.  Not every day, but a lot of days.  Just basking in negativity, frustrated with a few things.  My sales have been down, making money tight.  My parents are aging, and I worry about not having them someday (I mean, they’re my parents, they’re supposed to be immortal because they’re my superheros!)  My pet chickens weren’t getting along, having coop wars against one of the hens.  I haven’t felt pretty in awhile and haven’t even bothered trying to date.  All I see in my facebook feed is political strife, graphic photos of abused animals, and overwhelming negativity .  It’s added up, put me in a funk, and it’s made me bitchy.

I needed to do something to change.  Not the world, just my attitude.  So last week I dug out my old DVD of The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.  There’s a very cool movie trailer on their website here.  If you haven’t seen it, the whole movie is available on Netflix and there are at least a few clips on youtube you can watch.  I hadn’t watched it in years but I instantly felt better after doing so.  So I decided to give myself homework and start working with some of the her tools.

In the movie is a clip about Gratitude Rocks, which parallels with the work I do, and I found it fascinating.  So then I went and bought Rhonda Byrne’s book The Magic to start a 28 day plan to change things in my life.  And the 2nd day of the plan involves rocks again.  Basically you carry a rock around in your pocket all day and each night when you put it on your bedside table you think of the best part of your day and thank the universe for it.
Well, hell, I have rocks!  Tons and tons of rocks!  So I went into my work space and picked out the right one, the one I was most drawn to.  It’s a moss agate worrystone, if you’re wondering.  It’s in my bra right now because I’m wearing cropped sweats with no pockets.  Worrystones fit nicely in there and curve to the boobie.  Who knew?   I’m debating putting “boob friendly” in the descriptions on my website.
Now every morning I sit on my porch having my coffee and read a new chapter and list 10 things I’m grateful for in a journal.  They are surprisingly easy to come up with once you try.  Then at night I look at my rock and relive the best thing that happened during the day and say thank you for it.
Now suddenly my chickens are being nice to each other again.  I’ve lost about 15 pounds over the last two months, and I’m actually starting to feel sorta sexy again, which I’m TOTALLY digging.  My parents are still here, full of p*** and vinegar.
This may or may not be your thing, but I figured I’d share it.  It’s helping me, and maybe it will help you.
And today and every day I am grateful for all of you 🙂
